A BioBlitz is an event centered around one tremendously important concept - BIODIVERSITY. Biodiversity is simply the biological diversity of the natural world that surrounds us. The most basic components of a BioBlitz event are a place, or set of places, and a designated time frame. For the Memphis Wide Urban BioBlitz, the community has chosen 5 places around Memphis. For our time frame, we have chosen the second weekend of April (8th - 9th). See Schedule Below.
We are reaching out to all nature-enthusiasts who are available to participate either as guests, naturalists, or volunteers.
Our Goal:
Gather together the naturalist community for a collective search for all categories of life across our 5 designated sites. Document as Many Species as Possible!
The Schedule: for details, please contact the site(s) you will be visiting. PLEASE READ TO THE END.

Important Notes about Friday:
This day of the event is not open to the public. However, there are three ways you can help out...
- We need naturalist interpreters to help out with several local schools, whose students will be participating as citizen-scientists.
- Independent Teams: If you are interested in coming to a site to collect biodiversity data, but not necessarily interact with the visiting school groups, then we would be very happy to help make this happen.
- There are several designated volunteer opportunities to help out with from data-logger to photographer.
Important Notes about Friday Night:
This part of the event is only opened to volunteers and contributing scientists/photographers. If you would like to come to the night events, please contact organizers from that site.
Important Notes about Saturday:
This day is open to EVERYONE! Please come as a guest or as a volunteer. If you are interested in Volunteering, there are many opportunities. Also, we are looking for naturalists from all backgrounds to come share their wealth of knowledge.
